About JoeKelly

How I got into audio and everything else:

I’ve been playing guitar since I was 12. I started recording things a few months later, on a karaoke machine tape deck. From there it went to a 4-track tape recorder, and eventually – as all recording goes – made it to the computer. Digital audio was an instant love. I would endlessly edit and mix every audio file I could find or record.

Somewhere along the line, I picked up 3D animation and programming on the side. This presented a dilemma for college – just getting seriously into 3D animation, what should I focus on in college? I knew I couldn’t have programming as my main focus, so when I visited William Paterson University, I looked into both the animation and audio departments. The audio program won me over, and that was that. Though audio was always first priority, I kept up with my side projects because of how I could integrate them into my first love. So, in college, as I was studying Sound Engineering, I started using programming languages to play with audio, and make 3D animations to sound – and vice versa.

This site is a collection of how all of these things came together.
